Majority of us are well aware of the fact that being fit and healthy has a lot to with your diet and your lifestyle. We are what we eat and what we believe (insert healthy diet quotes here). Another accepted fact is that exercising is the key to a healthy lifestyle (insert motivational exercising quotes here). While we already know these things, we sometimes tend to forget it or should I say; our busy and hectic schedules make us forget it. Whatever the case may be, majority of us are dealing with similar problems today. Problems like;
- Not being able to give our 100% at work
- Lack of Focus
- Stress issues
- Being lazy
- Fitness concerns
With the kind of lifestyles we are leading, I am sure that these problems are not new for anyone. To be able to solve our common problems, we need to target the major cause of all our problems – “OUR LIFESTYLES”. We are a little too reliant on our cellular phones, laptops, computers, blenders, food processors and vehicles. Instead of using our body, we opt for machines over manpower. Instead of walking, we opt for vehicles. Instead of being creative with our own ideas, we opt for Pinterest. Instead of crushing our spices and fruits via hand grinding, we opt for fast food processors. Just like our body, our brain is getting used to of taking the easy way out. Instead of using the brain, we opt for Google – the easy way out.
Now I am not asking you to stop doing all the above-mentioned things because I know nobody will listen and it will go in vain. So while leading the “Today-Lifestyle”, incorporate a few things to it in order to be fit, active and healthy.
1: Sleep Well
A productive day starts with the body’s sleep needs fulfilled. You can never be at your best with a sleep deprived mind and body. After working, socializing and carrying out the daylong tasks our mind and body is completely drained out. So we need to revitalize it for the next day, to be at our level best. A good eight-hour sleep does half of the job for us. During our sleep, brain and the other organs of the body get time to recover naturally. Night’s sleep is like a reset button for our body, it makes the stress and worries go away. Have you noticed your headache disappearing as you sleep through the night? Have you noticed your leg-ache diminishing on its own as you sleep in the night? Have you noticed your back pain vanishing as you wake up the next morning? It is all in a good night’s sleep, my friend.
2: Do the PE (Palpitating Exercises)
Health experts have confirmed that increasing your heart rate once a day via exercise is healthy for us. Every organ in our body needs efficient blood circulation for their functioning. Exercising does that for us, it maintains a healthy blood flow to the part being exercised, which brings us to another point that is worth mentioning here. EXERCISE EVERY PART OF YOUR BODY! Bring your neck, your shoulders, your arms, your legs, your abdomen and every single part of your body in motion.
3: Never Skip Your Breakfast
Have you heard about nitro boosters? They are installed in sports cars to enhance their speed for racing purposes and by “enhance”, I literally mean doubling the speed. Breakfasts are like boosters for the day. It instantaneously energizes you and prepares you for the day. It stimulates your metabolism to start working again. Exercise + Breakfast = Mind and Body activated.
4: Eat Healthy and Eat Right
Eating healthy and eating right is just as important for the body as eating itself. There is no point of eating if you are going go bulk on junk food, for it does no good to the body. In fact, it only adds to the laziness and overburdens your metabolism. Let us explain this in terms of breakfast! As important as breakfast is to start your day, it is also important to eat a nutritious breakfast and not just munch on snacks. Use this diet chart as a guide towards what to eat the most and what to eat the least.
5: Exercise Everyday
Make a monthly exercising schedule for yourself. Bring changes to your exercising routine to keep yourself from getting bored. We have four weeks in a month, sometimes even five. For example, do Pilates for a week, aerobics the other week, Yoga in the third week, weight lifting in the fourth week and a mixture of all these in the fifth week. Make a schedule that suits you best and keeps you encouraged to exercise.
6: Think Positive
Think positive and stay away from negativity. My friend, this plays a great role in molding your brain to become more productive. Negativity uses a lot of your brain’s energy uselessly. Positivist, on the other hand, uses your brain’s energy in the best possible way. It helps you in being more productive. In order to be positive, the first thing you need to learn is to love yourself. You cannot be positive about others unless you are positive about yourself. You cannot spread love to others unless you love yourself.
7: Detox Water is the New Trendy Thing
Detox Water is one thing that we all need to incorporate into our breakfast routine, not because it is trending but due to the benefits it has. It activates your metabolism, prevents constipation, prepares your body to absorb the necessary nutrients, contains vitamins and antioxidants that add glow to your skin, helps in losing weight, shapes as well as energizes your body and wakes you up. It works best if you drink it hot, if not hot then at least lukewarm.
How to make Detox Water:
- Whatever greens you have in the fridge, spinach, bitter gourd, peppermint leaves, coriander, Kale or boerenkool, etc. put them in a processor and blend them well. Blend for about 5 – 10 good minutes.
- Take 2 tablespoons of this divine concoction in one cup of water and bring it to a boil.
- Add lemon and honey if you want.
- Drink it while it is hot!
8: Say No to Junkies
Junkies are a big NO. They just overburden your metabolism. It takes an hour or two for an average person to digest proteins, and it take 2 to 4 hours to digest proteins fried in oil. You have to double the exercising schedule to digest fast food, if you exercise half an hour every day, then after consuming fast food, you shall exercise for an hour. This is not it, they also makes you lazy and lethargic. Every time you eat junk food, remind yourself that you are being unfair to your body. Whenever you feel like munching, munch on fruits, nuts and delicious vegetables.
9: Prepare and Motivate Yourself to a Healthy Lifestyle
A healthy lifestyle is one that includes eating right and exercising as much as you can. Before machines and technologies took over, man was not aware of health issues like, obesity, high blood pressure and high cholesterol. People did not have to follow weight loss or high blood pressure diets. People did not rely on machines and technologies, unlike now. Try to live a life as machine-free as you possibly can.
10: Engage yourself in Mind Boggling Activities
While you keep your body in motion by exercising, it is very important to keep your brain in motion as well. The best way to exercise your brain is by engaging yourself in creative ideas. Do some creative DIYs during the weekends, write imaginary stories and do whatever interests you; let it be painting, textile designing, dress designing or whatever form of art that interests you. After all there is an artist hidden in all of us. Just keep your mind engaged in good things, instead of stressing over something that is not in your control.
Productivity is not just restricted to an active brain; it has a lot to do with good health as well. After all a healthy brain is an active brain. I hope that these 10 tips will help you remain fit, active, healthy and therefore PRODUCTIVE!. Don’t forget to comment down below and tell us if you find these advice useful.
