Telecom carriers in Pakistan has successfully started 3G and 4G services in the country. After waiting for years, and a fairly long auction day, Pakistan has started the 3G and 4G LTE services after the successful auction of the 3G and 4G spectrum. All four operators participated in the auction held last year, namely Mobilink, Telenor, Ufone, and Zong, bagged the 3G spectrum; while only Zong went on to bid and acquired the 4G spectrum.
Only Warid didn’t participated in the auction on that day. But it was very unusual that Warid started the 4G LTE services without participation in the spectrum auction ceremony.
So now Pakistan have two operators that are providing 4G LTE services in the country, these are Zong and Warid. While Zong and Warid are up for a competition in 4G networks, the ultimate beneficiary will be the cellular users of the country who would be getting 4G networks for their communication needs in Pakistan. But the question is that which company is giving better service to their customers. And who is going fast. So we conduct a little test for both networks on different times of the day. We tested the speeds of Warid 4G LTE as well as Zong 4G LTE. Down in the article you’ll see which network has done better.
Disclaimer: These speed tests are conducted regularly on daily bases for more then a month on different places and timings and we are just showing you some of the selected screenshots that will give you the basic idea.
Zong 4G LTE:
Zong started its 4G services in Pakistan in September last year. We must mention here that Zong have an advantage of offering 3G network to customers as a back-up (failover network) in areas where 4G wouldn’t be available, unlike Warid that doesn’t offer 3G services yet. Zong is considered as a cheaper network in Pakistan when we talk about calling rates. But Zong 4G Services are more expensive then as of Warid. When we conduct the 4G Speed tests with a Zong sim in our handset we are glad to see the results. Although we never get 150mpbs as Zong always say in their TVC’s. But still the 4G speeds are impressive.
Warid 4G LTE:
As Warid is known for its premium quality network, Most of the loyal postpaid users in Pakistan are using Warid. It is worth mentioning that when Warid started 4G LTE services we then tested their speed too. And we were amazed by the speeds they were providing. We usually get 38Mbps download and 18Mbps Upload speeds. But with the passage of time we see that Warid is not able to maintain the speeds of the 4G LTE service. So when we conducted the speed tests with the Warid sim in our handset we get these results.
These are the results that we get when we conducted speed tests of both networks. Warid is not maintaining its 4G LTE speeds. And we were very disappointed with Warid when we get 0.82 Mbps download speed on its 4G network. An this in not only one time we also have more screenshots with the same results. When we talk about the slow speeds on Warid 4G with their customer support representative, the guy told us that Warid has never promised any specific speed for the 4G LTE so you may get 4mb or 20mb its upto the location and the users currently connected in the particular location. The best speed that we were able to get from Warid 4G LTE was 12mbps and that happened only once in whole month. From the pricing point of view Warid is charging aprox. 100PKR for 1GB of 4G data. Warid is currently providing 4G LTE speeds in more then 15 cities of Pakistan.
If we talk about Zong, They are doing too good to maintain their speeds. But they must not advertise their service by telling fake speeds. Zong always say that they’ll provide upto 150Mbps download speed but the reality is that we were not able to get more then 57mbps download speed. When we asked this theory from a Zong customer service representative in one of their franchise she told us that Zong do provide this much speed. But as we say we didnt get more then 57mbps. Zong is doing great in terms of speed. From the pricing point of view Zong is charging aprox. 130PKR for 1GB of 4G data. Zong is currently providing 4G LTE speeds in more then 30 cities of Pakistan.
Kindly do provide us your feedback and tell us which network are you using and what speeds are you getting, down in the comment section below.
